Recreation and Fitness Classes
There is truly something for everyone at the Ladera Rec! We offer music and movement classes for kids, fitness and strength training classes, Yoga, and Qigong. These classes are year-round and are available to all!
Toddler and Preschool Music &Movement
The classes include age appropriate activities and materials to foster the child's natural creativity, and to enhance enjoyment of music in a relaxed, positive environment. The material is usually thematic and introduces basic musical concepts, and encourages listening skills and development of the whole child.
All classes are developed and led by Janet Coberly, a former music teacher in public and private schools for 30years.
Classes will start in September. Membership to the LRD is not necessary.

Early Morning Strength Training with Di Gow
All classes include stretching, weight training, and abdominal strengthening. Please bring your own mat and water to class. Weights and other fitness accessories will be provided.
Early Bird Workout
Tuesday sand Thursdays 6:15 - 7 AM
Di has been leading the Ladera Early Bird Workout for the past 11 years. She developed her own program to a musical beat. It is a fun and challenging workout for all age groups and levels. We work from the top of our head to the tips of our toes,stretching and strengthening as we go. Different muscle groups are eatured every class, but we always manage to get in some squats, push-ups and some serious abdominal work. A gentle warm up gets us going and a soothing cool down ends the class. Good humor always gives us an early morning "pick me up"
The Early Bird Workout is designed to help people of all ages and levels improve their fitness levels. This is a non-aerobic class which incorporates light weights, resistance bands and other fitness accessories to strengthen and stretch the entire body from head to toe. Participants can expect increased bone density, improved strength and endurance, better balance and core strength. Our goal is improved upper body and lower body strength and better overall health and vitality. The class is set to music and moves at a quick pace. We laugh a lot. All are welcome.

Very similar to the Early Bird Workout, Sunday mornings at the LRD are very peaceful and energizing. This work out incorporates all of the attributes of the Early Bird Workout but steps it up a little bit. All movements are easily adapted to all fitness levels.

Lengthen and Strengthen
Mondays/Wednesdays: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
(NB: Wednesdays are outside weather permitting)
This is a non-aerobic class which incorporates light weights, resistance bands, yoga balls and other fitness accessories to strengthen and stretch the entire body from head to toe. Participants can expect increased bone density, improved strength and endurance, better balance and core strength. Our goal is improved upper body and lower body strength and better overall health and vitality. The class is set to music and moves at a lively pace. All are welcome.
∑ Classes include stretching, weight training and abdominal strengthening. Please bring a mat and water. 2, 5and 8 lb. weights will be provided.
Ladera Energizer Circuit Workout
This energetic workout is sure to get your juices flowing. Using varioustypes of props,10 stations will be set up for a circuit-based endurance class.We will begin with a group warm up and end with a group cool down. Have fun working out with friends, listening to a great music assortment, all while building strength both above and below the belt. Each week the stations will vary.This class is appropriate for all levels and both men and women. You do not need to bring anything to this class.

Di Gow -
Di received an undergraduate degree in Recreation and Parks Administration from the University of New Hampshire and her law degree from Santa Clara University. She has been leading the Early Bird Workout for the past 12 years and recently attended Canada College to pursue a Fitness Professional Certificate (certificate still pending upon completion of a business class) Di received SCW certifications in: Group exercise, Small Group Personal Training and Small Group Strength Training. Di is also a certified spinning instructor. She is CPR certified as well as an American Red Cross certified lifeguard. She has lived in Ladera for more than 20 years, raised 2 sons here and currently lives on N. Castanya Way with her husband Glenn and golden retriever, Norman.
